What To Expect

Before Surgery
Discuss all medications, including over-the-counter and supplements, with your doctor.
Do not eat or drink after midnight unless instructed otherwise.
Shower the night before or morning of surgery. Brush your teeth, but don’t swallow water.
Avoid smoking and alcohol 24 hours before surgery.
Day of Surgery
Arrive on time and ask any questions you have.
Bring a photo ID, insurance cards, and any required forms from your doctor.
Bring your medications or a list, including dosage and frequency.
Arrange for someone to drive you home and wait in the waiting room.
Avoid makeup, jewelry, and valuables. Wear glasses if needed (no contacts).
Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Expect to be at the facility for 2-3 hours.
After Surgery
Expect dizziness after anesthesia. Wait 24 hours before driving, making important decisions, or consuming alcohol.
Follow all post-op instructions from your physician regarding diet, exercise, rest, and medications.
